Roof Tiling

A host of shapes, sizes, colours and designs, tiled roofing is a common feature of many homes worldwide and is one of our areas of expertise here at Rooftech Solutions.

The main purpose of roof tiles is to keep out the rain, but it also helps that their stylish appearance and overlapping design gives your home an attractive makeover that has become an increasingly common feature on houses both nationwide and worldwide.

Traditionally made from materials such as terracotta and slate, modern materials like concrete and plastic are also used as tiles for roofs and some clay tiles even have a waterproof glaze. A large number of roof tile shapes have also evolved over the years. These profiles include flat tiles, Roman tiles, S-shaped pantiles, semi-cylindrical barrel tiles, interlocking roof tiles which also give protection from the wind, and vertical block tiles known as antefixes.

Once you’ve chosen your material and design, our team will set to work tiling your roof. The tiles are hung from the roof framework with nails, usually in parallel rows with each row overlapping the row below it to exclude rainwater while covering the nails that hold the row below.

There are also roof tiles for special positions, particularly where the planes of several pitches meet. They include ridge, hip and valley tiles and these can either be bedded and pointed in cement mortar or mechanically fixed.

Our team will know the best procedure for your tiled roof so you don’t need to worry about anything other than which you think will look best on your home.
